(LEVEL 1): Basic Hoist Operator Course
In this module, the trainee is introduced to basic hoisting skills such as aircraft positioning, external loads, hoist insertion and extraction, open water hoist and searchlight/ NVG familiarization. This introductory hoist operator course takes four days to complete.
In this module, the trainee is introduced to the voice procedures and crew management procedures associated with conning operations. The trainee will learn and practice basic conning techniques to prepare for hoisting operations. This module consists of five (5) sub-modules.
Duration: 7.5 hours
This module introduces the trainee to the skills required to effectively con an aircraft with an external load in various conditions. The trainee will build on the aircraft positioning skills learned in module 1. This module consists of three (3) sub-modules.
Duration: 7.5 hours
This module introduces the trainee to hoist insertion and extraction procedures. The trainee learns the skills of hoist insertion and extraction at various altitudes and positions with and without load corrections. This module consists of five (5) sub-modules.
Duration: 12.5 hours
This module introduces the trainee to open water hoist operations. The trainee will apply previous knowledge of conning, hoist operation and emergency response techniques to open-water operations. This module consists of two (2) sub-modules.
Duration: 5 hours
This module introduces the trainee to the skills required to effectively con an aircraft in various conditions at night using searchlight/ Night Vision Goggles (NVG). In this mission, the trainee will apply knowledge of hoist safety procedures to night hoist operations.
Duration: 2.5 hours
Advanced Hoist Operator Course
The trainee is introduced to advanced hoisting missions based on the Basic Hoist Operators course. Advanced Hoist Operator missions are performed in daylight and nighttime conditions. The night module includes a searchlight and simulated Night Vision Goggles (NVG). This advanced hoist operator course takes four days to complete.
In this module, the trainee will learn about vessel hoist operations. They will utilize the skills and knowledge they learned in prior courses, including conning, hoist operation and emergency response techniques to perform standard and non-standard vessel operations. This module consists of two (2) sub-modules.
Duration: 12.5 hours
In this module, the trainee will learn to operate hoisting in swift water. The trainee will apply previous knowledge of conning, hoist operation and emergency response techniques to swift water operations. This module consists of four (4) sub-modules.
Duration: 10 hours
This module introduces the trainee to mountain hoist operations. The trainee will apply previous knowledge of conning, hoist operation and emergency response techniques to mountain operations. This module consists of three (3) sub-modules.
Duration: 7.5 hours
This module introduces the trainee to the skills required to effectively con an aircraft in various conditions at night using searchlight/ Night Vision Goggles (NVG). In this mission, the trainee will apply knowledge of hoist safety procedures to night hoist operations.
Duration: 2.5 hours
This course is intended to reinforce skills and malfunctions in a safe environment. The learner will practice all associated emergency procedures during challenging confirmation exercises.

Description: The vessel training course covers underway and stationary vessels in calm and variable seas. This challenging course will test crew coordination and hoist operators’ skills under different environments in day, night, and Night Vision Goggles (NVG)/searchlight conditions.
Duration: 2 days
Description: In this course, students will focus on cliff and mountain terrain work. Students will gain insights, tactics and techniques for mountain flying and rescue with challenging environmental conditions in day, night and Night Vision Goggles (NVG)/searchlight conditions.
